Areas of Practice

Anger

Anger is often the "black sheep" of our emotional responses. Anger can be a healthy emotion we use to set limits or create boundaries. It becomes an issue when we act out our anger and cause interpersonal problems. We may use anger to intimidate others, keep them at a distance, or cover our vulnerability. Through therapy, it’s possible to resolve your anger so that it’s no longer a problem in your life.

Trauma

Trauma is a sensitive area of work. Clients who have experienced trauma are often deeply wounded and vulnerable. The impact of trauma does not have to be a life-long burden. Through therapy, trauma is resolvable.

Depression

Depression often results from negative internal dialogue and a poor perception of self. Through therapy, you can change self-critical thoughts and create new ways to respond to life events. As you make these changes, depressive feelings will subside.

Suicide

At its most basic level, suicide is an extreme way to manage emotions. The fantasy is by killing one's self, the emotional pain will stop. With suicide, more energy goes into not solving the problem as opposed to solving it. The reality is - suicide resolves nothing. Through therapy, learn that all problems are solvable. You only need to choose to stay alive. I know this from first-hand experience.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a fear-based response when facing uncertainty. People who feel anxious are often wanting to control an unpredictable future. Anxiety consumes a great deal of energy but, in reality, resolves nothing. Through therapy, you can become empowered to gain control and manage life's difficulties.

Veterans Issues

The unique nature of military service often instills a sense of camaraderie among veterans. Trust is developed through training and hardship. Finding a therapist with a shared background can be pivotal. I am a veteran myself and help other former service members. Let me help you resolve trauma and other issues that are particular to those who have served.
